The web dashboard is a back office, not a second scanner

The split, stated plainly

FieldScan scans on iOS and Android, and manages in the browser. The web dashboard does not scan, will not ask for your camera, and is not a lesser version of the app — it is the other half of it. The people walking the floor carry phones; the person reconciling the count sits at a screen with a keyboard. The product is shaped around that split instead of pretending one device does both jobs well.

Everything that benefits from a big screen:

History — every scan, searchable across barcode, name, category, notes and place name, with status and date filters you can save.
Groups — create them, rename them, move scans between them.
Team — invite members, assign roles, see who added what.
Exports — the same field picker and the same files as the phone. The file the browser produces is identical to the file the phone produces.
Analytics — what was scanned, when, by whom.
Integrations — API keys, webhook endpoints and scheduled email digests are all managed here (API and webhooks are Team features).

What it deliberately does not do

Scan. The browser build never requests camera permission at all. If you were hoping to use a laptop webcam as a scanner: an inventory count happens where the stock is, and webcam optics are poor at barcodes anyway. Every phone in your team’s pockets is a better scanner than any laptop.

One account, both surfaces

There is nothing to sync or pair. Sign in with the same account and the scan you took in aisle four is in the browser by the time you have walked back to the desk — or, with no signal, as soon as the phone reconnects. Offline scanning covers that path in detail.
